A noted press photographer, Martin Shahbazian has been working since 1966, collaborating with major Armenian newspapers such as ‘Communist’ and ‘Hayreniki Dzayn’. Between 1976 and 2001 Shahbazian was ‘Armenpess’ newsagency stuff photographer, thanks to which many of his photographs were published in overseas press. Currently he is part of the Armenian presidental press team. Since the 1980s Shahbazian has held a number of solo shows in Armenia, USSR and overseas. Of particular significance is his extensive reportage of the 1988 Spitak earthquake.
