Foschi, Domenico

1962
Nationality: American/Italian
Place of Activity: Italy/USA

Born and raised in Italy, Dominico Foschi’s career has been equally divided between his home country and USA, where he currently lives and works.

A master of black and white darkroom printing, Foschi has stayed faithful to analogue photography since the mid 1980s. His work is romantically imbued and often concerns the everyday environment which surrounds him. The quotodian subject matter acquires grace and melancholy poetry when seen through his lens. Foschi’s oeuvre continually reflects on high modernist photography, fluidly synthesising the pictorialist, street, American documentary and Italian neo-realist photography traditions with an acutely contemporary sensibility that comes through his exquisitly made minimalist photographs.

Foschi has exhibited widely across the USA and Europe, but chooses to remain outside of the market-led parameters of contemporary art photography.
